Gifted & 2e Profile

Giftedness is high intelligence but can also be in sports, arts, music etc... The brain grows asynchronously which creates a discrepancy between what people can think and their capacity to process emotions which creates weak pathways for self regulation. When a gifted individual also carries a learning difference or neurodivergence (2e), these traits can become even more intense.

Hypersensitivity & Intensity

Gifted individuals often experience the world with heightened, vivid intensities. Sensory inputs, emotions, and environments can feel magnified, frequently leading to deep emotional overwhelm, anxiety, or behaviors that look like defiance but are actually a survival response to overstimulation.

Neurodivergent Traits & Misdiagnosis (ADHD & Autism)

High energy, rapid-fire speech, impulsivity, or deep distractibility can look exactly like ADHD. Similarly, an unusual, all-consuming interest or intense focus can mimic Autism. Without a specialist who understands the gifted profile, these traits often lead to inappropriate or incomplete clinical labels.

Perfectionism

The drive to execute tasks perfectly can become a paralyzing hurdle. For gifted adults and children alike, extreme perfectionism often triggers heightened anxiety, deep depression, or complete avoidance of trying new things out of fear of failure.

Underachievement & Masking

Gifted and 2e individuals (adults and children) frequently minimize their capabilities or underachieve at school simply to fit in with peers. In other cases, underachievement happens because of an underlying, hidden challenge like dyslexia or a slower processing speed that conflicts with their high intelligence.

Social & Emotional Disconnect

Because their internal world operates at a different pace, gifted and 2e individuals often experience social awkwardness or a tough time finding true peers. This gap can lead to severe emotional dysregulation, ranging from sudden meltdowns over minor issues to deep apathy and physical exhaustion.

Where the horses come in

Horses are naturally attuned to the environment, which means they can instantly tell how we feel inside, even when we are trying hard to hide. If you show up feeling stressed but acting calm, the horse notices that mismatch immediately and changes their behavior. This is the starting point of our work. We set up situations like leading a horse, brushing a horse, meeting a new horse that may match themes that you want to work on. By observing the horse i am able to wonder what is happening in the moment and build a parallel with your life situations. For example, when leading a horse, the horse stops which is a way to say "no". The similar situation in life is someone saying "no" to us and how it feels inside when it happens.
