Parenting

Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life by Marshall Rosenberg. In this book, Marshal Rosenberg gives very simple insight in how we communicate and how we can improve our communication in all our relationships. He explain how the way we communicate can:

  • Transform judgment and criticism into understanding and connection
  • Break patterns of thinking that lead to arguments, anger and depression
  • Resolve conflicts peacefully, whether personal or public, domestic or international
  • Reduce stress in the workplace and improve productivity
  • Develop relationships based upon mutual respect, compassion, and cooperation

Candace Perth and her book- “The Molecules of Emotions – Why you feel the way you feel”.

Candace Perth is a researcher in Molecular Biology. She is such an interesting Woman. “The Molecules of Emotions – Why you feel the way you feel”.

She discovered the opiates receptors and demonstrated that mammals have the capacity to produce their own opiates called endorphins. Another aspect of this book that I found so interesting, and as a woman so familiar. Her discovery put her in the candidates for the Nobel Price. In her book, she explains how her boss did not let her know that she was on the list and put himself on the list instead. She protested vehemently but never got the Nobel price.

Among other facts I enjoyed reading is her theory that Schizophrenia may be an auto-immune disease. This theory gives me goose bumps, can you imagine what this means. If it turns out to be true, there could be a cure for such Mental illnesses.

I recommend this book warmly, it is very accessible, interesting and also funny.
